One app to store all of your important calendar dates, documents & to-do's, categorising and grouping by areas of your life. My role was to lead the design of Eggy for iOS, Android & Web, whilst also leading the marketing / brand design.

I joined Eggy as their only designer back in 2020. At this point, Co-CEO's Kate & Kirk had created an early iOS prototype which needed some love. Our goal as a team was to bring Eggy to as many families as possible – that meant Eggy had to be a multi-platform service.

I joined Eggy as their only designer back in 2020. At this point, Co-CEO's Kate & Kirk had created an early iOS prototype which needed some love. Our goal as a team was to bring Eggy to as many families as possible – that meant Eggy had to be a multi-platform service.

To acheive this, I worked directly with a small but mighty team of in house developers who specialised in Flutter. At the time Flutter was a new technology to me, allowing us to deploy to iOS, Android & Web simultaneously. This came with a few challenges, the most notible was creating a design system that would elevate Eggy's UI & UX for 3 platforms at once.

A key learning I had at Eggy was to let go of perfectionism, a difficult task for a perfectionist. We were still in the phase of finding solid product-market fit and for a lot of the time, pre-revenue – we had to move fast. Naturally as a designer, I wanted to perfect my design files, I had to let go of this. To reach our milestones we had to ship product into the hands of real users as quickly as possible, gather feedback, then ship again.

Working closely with our Head of Product, I rapidly created & tested prototypes with Eggy users, then brought these flows to our dev team, sometimes compromising on design details in order to ship improvements and get feedback quicker. Speed and iteration was everything to us at this time, we learnt that REAL feedback was where the magic happened.

Eggy's intial app concept only supported 1 workspace per account. Over time we found this single space could get cluttered and needed to be better organised, this was also supported by interviewing users and finding they naturally were doing this. We found there were a few common areas people were organising by – Personal, Family, School & Work.

As a team we collaborated on the idea of allowing more than just 1 Space per account, and so the 'Pro' version of Eggy was born. This allowed users to create unlimited Spaces upon an upgrade. Spaces brought big changes to Eggy's UX which involved improvements to onboarding with the goal of setting up users with relevant Spaces as quickly as possible.

I had never been alone at the wheel of the design ship, often feeling self doubts and imposter syndrome.
